About the principal instructor
Traditional martial artist, teacher, competitor and qualified referee.
A life in practice
Stephen began practising martial arts at the age of fifteen and has devoted his life to the study and transmission of traditional Chinese internal arts.
He is a 7th Duan in Chinese Wushu and Tai Chi and a sixth-generation inheritor of the ancient Taoist 188-form Tai Chi. His principal study is internal martial arts, with teaching grounded in correct structure, coordinated movement and patient repetition.
As dean of Yuan Lin School, Stephen is committed to promoting traditional Chinese culture and sharing Chinese martial arts with students in Sydney.

Teaching approach
Traditional practice is taught step by step. Students learn to understand posture, balance, breathing and intention rather than simply memorising a sequence of movements.
Develop stable posture, relaxed movement and basic coordination.
Connect the external form with breathing, focus and internal mechanics.
Refine through repetition while respecting individual ability and pace.

Stephen has earned medals in every individual event he entered across major traditional Wushu and Tai Chi competitions.
